Learn about the benefits of HCl + pepsin and how it impacts your gut health
Supplement
Hydrochloric acid (HCl) is produced in the stomach and it’s used to break down the food, especially proteins. Having a low stomach acid can cause indigestion, acid reflux, nutritional deficiencies, food allergies, imbalances in the gut bacteria and general discomfort due to undigested food.
Benefits
HCl + pepsin can be found on Body & Fit. I am proud to say that we are partner of Body & Fit. This mean will gain a small percentage if you decide to purchase a product from their shop via this link.
What came first? The chicken or the egg? In our case the EGG. I have personally been a big fan of Body & Fit, even before I started blogging. They deliver high quality products for a good price. I like to uphold these quality standards for this blog as well and will never recommend irrelevant or unethical products.

Improves digestion
Undigested food can arrive at the colon where bacteria digest it. This may lead to bloating, smelly gas, constipation or diarrhea.
HCl lowers gastric pH.1 It is not recommended, however, in the case of gastric ulcers.
HCl helps in protein, mineral and vitamin B12 absorption.2, 3
It also acts as the first line of defence against most ingested bacteria.4
May help decrease symptoms of IBS (inflammatory bowel syndrome) such as abdominal pain and bloating.5
How do you know if you need to supplement with HCl pills? In this post, you can find two at home tests.
Recommended dosage: it will differ for every person. Start incrementing one pill at a time in each meal high in protein. Stop when you feel the burning sensation on your chest. For the next meal, take one pill less than on your last food. Continue with this amount until you feel the burning sensation again, then reduce until you don’t need any pill.
